All right big guy you have been cordially invited to an 80's themed party and now you need a men's costume that will make a statement. Unfortunately many party goers show up at themed based parties with regular clothing on. Don't be that guy! Putting together an 80's party costume is much easier thanks to the good old internet.
There are many different avenues that you can peruse for your 80's party costume. You could base your costume on a TV character from the 1980's. If you start brainstorming all of those TV programs that we all loved back in the day that seem so pitifully cheesy now you can come up with some killer ideas. Here are a few old 80's programs that will help jog your memory.
The Dukes of Hazzard- Bo and Luke Duke were a Friday night staple for many years. If your better half has the frame to pull it off she could go as Daisy.
Miami Vice- Another Friday night cheese fest that could be done pretty easily
The A-Team- Yes, I admit that I used to watch that one also.
If your an 80's music lover then it's just a matter of deciding which category you want to follow. Duran Duran, ZZ Top, The Cars, Micheal Jackson, Van Halen I could go on forever with this stuff. Now, finding actually finding the items needed if you want to put together a costume from these particular categories is much easier than it used to be because you can find much of what you need on the internet.
You should also cruise your local Goodwill or Faith Rescue Mission thrift stores because sometimes you can find some cool items there as well. I have found that old shoes are pretty plentiful at these places. If you're dreading the idea of having to find all of this stuff then you could just keep things simple and wear a cool t-shirt with an 80's themed logo on it. Strap on a mullet wig and your ready to go!
Putting together a good 80's party costume doesn't have to be a big deal. The biggest thing to remember is don't procrastinate! It may seem like a little bit of work but once you start really brainstorming it actually kind of fun and it will all be worth it when the party roll's around.
